Top 10 unusual media for my advertising copywriting
Most ads I've written have appeared in newspapers or magazines, or as posters. However, there's almost no end to the unusual places you can stick a sales piece. At some time or another, some advertising message I've written has appeared on all the following:
- Betting slips
- Coffee cups
- Petrol pump handles
- Fast food packaging
- Bottom of golf holes
- Cinema tickets
- Beer mats
- Taxi seats
- Video covers (that was a long time ago...)
- Pub toilets (just so we're quite clear, I'm talking about those posters above the urinals, not some scrawled phone number on the wall).
Actually, almost any space is for sale if you really want it. And the more you can get the message to be relevant to the medium, the better. One of my favourites was a spec ad someeone did for headache pills. These were on the soles of boxing boots - so only visible if the wearer got knocked out.
